NotesChanged minumum to reflect lower possibilities. Had more luck with a \Tennessee creeper\ charc, approaching right very drop slowly and not spinning until entire left side was engaged and plunging. Right back sweep turning into a pry to the sky gave up best rides.

NotesA T-storm brought this spot up for one afternoon, and it is good! John T, Zander, and myself checked this spot out together. Not an extended downtime venue, but perfect for head deep dips up to 5 seconds. The best part about this spot is you can get under on both sides of the rock. Great for leftys, rightys, rookies learning to tap in, working on your offside spin, and figure eight mystery circles, a la Bubbler I and II. Regular charcs worked best on both sides. At this level the eddy was a bit leaky, definitely easier with a stick. Attainers right clue: steep charc hip switch about 6 feet right of the rock to avoid scraping on entry (go for the flow, not the eddyline). Watch your left blade dragging on the rock on entry, it has an appetite for jimistyxs. Definitely worth a 1-2 hour drive, but when paired with a run upstream through the ultra-classic goshen pass (class 3-4) a longer drive could be justified.

NotesFirst time out here in the glass. Not much pull but it could have been pilot error, it was my first day out this season and I was feeling rusty. I passed by this spot a couple months ago in a plastic boat at 1000-1500? cfs and it looked much more powerful (regular whirlpools shearing off, and a large boil 30 feet downstream of the rock.) Only neck deep rides, not worth travelling for but if youre in VA and running the pass anyway bring your glass and give it a look and a try... maybe youll have better luck. -josh
